2011 A Year In Pictures

December 28, 2011  |  by Jordan  |  Car & Misc., Videos  |  No Comments

I was going to make a post about my favorite photos I’ve taken this year, but instead decided to switch it up and make this little montage of my iphone pictures! Lots of cars, puppies, beer, and randomness!

Lots of big things happening in 2012 with me and all the guys here at V2LAB, so get excited!

OSHII!

December 26, 2011  |  by Jordan  |  Car & Misc., Features  |  No Comments

Over here in the states, it’s a rare sight to see an R34, and funnily enough even more rare to see one that’s not a GTR. When I got to Australia, my head exploded with all of the R34s driving around. There were stock ones, modded ones, ones with 4 doors, and I even saw an old lady driving one! Over there, R34s are just regular cars, like civics are to us. So much so that there are lots of poorly modded ricer looking ones driving around.

This car is not one of those. John Huynh knows a thing or 2 about modding a car. John was nice enough to pick me up and give me a ride around Melbourne to meet up with Vyet Le to go out for a photoshoot. After some cop trouble and Vyet’s car getting defected, we finally got to shoot, and this is what we came up with!

It may not be godzilla, but it’s still breakin’ necks!

Holiday Matsuri!

December 23, 2011  |  by Dipz  |  Comics, gallery  |  1 Comment

Winter in Florida is far shy of a scene from ‘A Christmas Carol’. We’re basking in 80-degree warm sun shi- wait a minute, I’ve written this before. Holiday Matsuri was a new multi-genre convention (“con”) with a deep holiday theme. Cosplayers and fans generated to celebrate their anime, video game, sci-fi favorites amongst each other. The event spanned over a 3-day streak which included celebrity guests, local and traveling artists, costume & cosplay contests, parties, and vendors of the aforementioned genres.

From the pictures above, you can see the event had plenty of hall space and many rooms open for specific scheduled events such as the main ballroom/dance hall, a gaming room dedicated entirely for video games, an open marketplace for imported and rare goods, and a traditional artist alley for amazing one-of-a-kind pieces of handmade materials, arts, and crafts. Personally I’m still kicking myself for not picking up an awesome pair of homemade Domo earrings (look at the amazing detail in the last photo)!

Holiday Matsuri also threw a massive dance ball in which they accepted toy donations for admission to the event. The collection of unwrapped toys they received will be delivered to the Toys For Tots Foundation founded and ran by the United States Marine Corps whom shall distribute the gifts to the less fortunate. Holiday Matsuri was held at the DoubleTree Hotel across from Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. The event attracted many new faces to join in the festivities of what may be the last major Con of Central Florida in 2011. With a few days left until Christmas, on behalf all of our support staff and sponsors, we’d like to wish our friends and fans Happy Holidays!

Check out the photo gallery (click) for the rest of the Holiday Matsuri event.

Not your Typical Caddy

December 21, 2011  |  by Av  |  Car & Misc., Features  |  1 Comment

This CTS-V is the ultimate family hauler. Four doors and a load of HP. This is personally one of the cars i’d like to own one day. With a LS2 engine under the hood, and RWD it is a great car to own.

The Lusso Forged Wheels on the CTS truly complete the look for this monster.

Nothing too extreme with the fitment, but it is sitting just right.

Lusso Forged Wheels
Front: 20 x 9 LF8i Incurvo Satin Matte Black Center / Chrome Lip
Rear: 20 x 10.5 LF8i Incurvo Satin Matte Black Center / Chrome Lip

Tire Sizes Rear: 285/30/20 Hankook Ventus V12 Evo
Tire Sizes Front: 245/35/20 Hankook Ventus V12 Evo

Big thanks to Tony Rivera for priding us with this beauty.

Was working all weekend, so I could only go for 1 day to Art Basel in Miami, so I went to Wynwood because it has some of the worlds best street artists killing it on every corner. There are some of my favorites from the day.

Its not everyday you can get two cars of this caliber together for a couple quick pics…but when Rich Nguyen and Troy Huynh get together, you get one of those rare opportunities. With both of them wanting to do more to these cars this is only a small teaser of whats to come.

Autocon – Coverage

December 11, 2011  |  by four  |  Automotive Events  |  1 Comment

What do you get when you mix edwin and a car show? give up? You get banana man! So I decided to go to Autocon and meet up with a couple friends from norcal and socal. When all of sudden the famous John Zhang (1013MM) asked me to put on, you guessed it, the Banana suit! So I walked around with the banana suit the whole day of taking pictures, was sweaty as hell! but that didn’t stop from guys/girls from asking if they can get a pic with me. One asking me to post inside his car sticking out my banana head out of the sunroof! But I’m not gonna lie I had to get a pic with the nicely tanned Roxy Ayala. I think Roxy might of thought i was stalking her! I wasn’t (hahaha) I just wanted another pic! And it payed off! The pic looks awesome! So with the show ending soon, I decided to put the camera away and walk on stage to give the crowd a little show! Doing the peanut butter jelly dance and dropping it like its hot to about 50 disgusted faces (hahaha). Just wanna make a big banana shout out to Lee Ho, JDM sport, Wrong Fitment Crew, Royal Origin, Lowballers, Socalevo, and the people that made AutoCon possible, for having an awesome show! Definitely going next year! Check the Gallery for more pictures!

I Love Driving Slow presents: Winterfest 2011

December 10, 2011  |  by Dipz  |  Automotive Events  |  1 Comment

Winter in Florida is far shy of a scene from ‘A Christmas Carol’. We’re basking in 80-degree warm sunshine absent of any roof icicles and snow plowing being necessary, but the holiday morals and family values remain the same. Friends, soldiers, and children return home to cherish the season of caring and sharing. The organizers of I Love Driving Slow took heavy consideration of the season with the car show’s theme and incentive of show entrants and attendees to provide toys for judging as opposed to legal tender of payment. The enormous collection of unwrapped toys they received will be delivered to the Toys For Tots Foundation founded and ran by the United States Marine Corps whom shall distribute the gifts to the less fortunate.

I Love Driving Slow held the Winterfest 2011 conference at the familiar Route 46 venue in Sanford, Florida – a proven success ground for automotive meets as shown in the last several months of activity. The block is pretty tight with only one major way in and out, and many cars being pushed to park in dirt and grass as the pavement parking is preserved for those who came early. The event attracted several of our friends from Jacksonville, Tampa, and Miami to join in the festivities of what may be the last major car show of Central Florida in 2011. With fifteen (15) days left until Christmas, on behalf all of our support staff and sponsors, we’d like to wish our friends and fans Happy Holidays!

Peep out the gallery (click) for Winterfest 2011, with more event photos from our other photographers arriving throughout the day.

350 Z(ed)

December 8, 2011  |  by Jordan  |  Car & Misc., Features  |  No Comments

Kam Aghtan has owned this beautiful 350z for the past 5 years, and since day 1 he has done all the modifications himself, without any previous experience. While most people would send the car off to the shop to be worked on, Kam wanted to learn the car inside and out.

He started simple with oil changes and such, but quickly got more technical once the mod bug got to him. While the car is his daily driver, Kam tracks his Z often, on all the local tracks, so he wasn’t molding just for show. He installed a Vortech supercharge and engine management, as well as some bigger brakes and meaty tires. The setup is perfect for the road and the track, but as we all know, the modding will never end.

As Kam’s lap times get faster and faster, the urge to push the car to its limits grows. “The Zed keeps moving further from its initial function of daily driver, to weekend track-rat, but the passion never stops and I’m just as passionate about her now as the day we met. Now if I only I could find a lady-friend who could hold my attention for as long…” I think we can all relate.
