VS-II – V2LAB eZine

March 3, 2012  |  by four  |  Car & Misc., Features, News  |  1 Comment

I decided a few months back – I wanted to release an e-zine (since our blog is so random & our facebook page is even more random) – i set March 1st as the release date (didn’t really tell anyone – in case it didn’t happen but that was my goal)

I believe I have almost everything in order for it ; This has the READERS RIDES section – in it (back when i asked everyone for pictures (keep sending stuff in!!) – that i posted (in the order of how i received the e-mails); if you car is not posted yet – it WILL BE 110%.

We’ll have more stuff in the coming months, more girls, more cars, more features, more everything; this is just our first month – hopefully everyone enjoys it – and (yes i will get better at writing – photography is my strong point haha)

(ps: the new stickers will be released in a day or two!)

MegaCon 2012

February 23, 2012  |  by Dipz  |  Comics, Features, gallery  |  No Comments

Welcome to MegaCon 2012! We’re absolutely impressed with the tremendous growth since last year’s Convention; Not only did it seem we had more room to play at the Orange County Convention Center here in Orlando, Florida, but the guest list was swollen with more than plenty of the entertainment industry’s hottest talents! Three days of this Convention were simply not enough to absorb the action going on under this roof!

MegaCon is well established as the largest comic book, anime, sci-fi and fantasy convention in the South East of the United States. This annual event is recommended for EVERYONE. This year’s MegaCon was extraordinary and definitely not worth missing.

Vendors flourished across the floor with amazing collectibles and trademark iconic items with, as cliché as it sounds, ‘something for everybody’! From rare key comic books, memorabilia, and clothing to imported candy, anime, and costume props.

MegaCon always has had a great lineup of floor actors, artists and writers, but this year seemed to host plenty more than the previous year, which made great for attendees to interact with their favorite talents and creators. The enormous list included world-renowned writers and artists such as David Finch and J. Scott Campbell, growing stars like Lauren Cohan (Walking Dead), as well as up-and-coming writer Ryan Sohmers (Gutters) and local superhero squad Fierce Comics!

Deep within the penciled jungles of the artist alley, you could find yourself falling in love with original content from artists of anime, industry leading comic art, independent creators, or just general real life tributes of beautiful people.

The panels set up at MegaCon were very central themed and amazing. One of our favorites was ‘DC Comics: The New 52’, in which DC’s Co-Publisher Dan Didio led a discussion on the new changes which brought DC Comics to the head of the industry last year! Other attending panelists included Greg Capullo, Tony Bedard, and Jimmy Palmiotti. During the finale, fans rushed the stage to shake hands and share words with the guests! Coincidentally just outside the room, a DC Comics themed photoshoot was happening in which Dan Didio joined fellow DC veteran George Perez.

Another favorite panel was the ‘Q & A with Legendary Stan Lee’. Jimmy Palmiotti joined Stan Lee at his request in assisting with moderating, even though Stan “The Man” could handle it well all by himself! The room was very quiet for most of the time while Stan spoke with answers from his heart. His jokes broke the silence many times to ease the tension of everyone hanging on to his words. Stan recently launched his official website which has constant updates: The Real Stan Lee.

And what about the people? Many attendees dressed up in costume play (“cosplay”) to pay homage to their favorite characters and share their joy and passion in a walking visual display. You can’t help but smile and ask for someone to take a picture with you, to later share with your family and friends on what an awesome event this was!

As we said before if you weren’t here, you simply MISSED OUT… but we’ve got you covered!

Check out our FULL photo gallery (click) for even more images from the event!

Our very special thanks go to:
-ALL the supporting staff at MegaCon for putting together incredible event.
-Coliseum of Comics for a lunch opportunity with DC Comics’ Dan Didio.
-POW! Entertainment for always providing us best spots for Stan Lee events.
-iAM 3D Group for front row seats at their booth for creator signings.

TunerLife 2012 Tour @ UTI Campus

February 13, 2012  |  by Dipz  |  Automotive Events, Car & Misc., Features, gallery  |  No Comments

State of Stance has teamed up with UTI, Scion, Meguiar’s, and Tjin Edition to bring to us the TunerLife Tour 2012. Yesterday, February 11th, marked the first day and official launch of the 5-city tour expected to bring out many vendors, hundreds of cars, and most importantly thousands of fans! The next stops, in chronological order, will be Dallas, Houston, Boston and Chicago. The event itself couldn’t have been on a better day in Florida: mid 60′s and full, sunny skies just before the state being hit with a cold front. You couldn’t help but feel overcrowded when trying to park in the main show area, even though outside overflow had plenty of different spots and still showcased many beautiful cars that came late. Cars came as early as 8:00am when the show was scheduled to begin at 10:00am. This was easily one of the biggest events of the year so far with many cars from various scenes such as VIP, domestic, and Because Racecar status.

You may view our photo gallery (click) for even more images from the event!

The Little Car That Could

January 20, 2012  |  by Jess  |  Features  |  7 comments

Whether you have a brand new lease in the driveway or a less-than-perfect old school rod under a blanket of dry leaves, Kevin’s CRX comes to show that even the less fashionable rides can be worthy. A little bit of elbow grease and hard work goes a long way and it will never disappoint.

This is Kevin’s 1991 Honda CRX. After months of having a motor wrapped up and sitting in his driveway, he’s finally decided to take a week off for some extensive work. (And his oil pan leaking due to a combination of rough roads to a meet in the city and the next morning’s horrendous gas station driveway, it was pretty good timing.) The new swap is a 1992-1995 zc motor and transmission from Japan with a chipped ECU and intake. After his boss took it for a drive on a lonely strip of road, he returned with a smile on his face and humbly said, “This makes me miss my lotus.

As for the wheel setup, the car is dropped on Function & Form coilovers with Blackworks Racing camber adjustments and sitting on 15×8+10 ROTA Shakotan wheels. Perfect combination of shine and matte.

Besides the recent motor swap and the fitment, the true heart and soul of this car is within its walls. Fully dynamatted with two layers, top to bottom and front and back, this car is a national competitor in the Sound Pressure League competitions, also known as simply SPL. There are 8 runs of over-sized 00 gauge wiring to move the power of pure throbbing bass. Kevin’s CRX is the current class leader running 2×12″ custom tailored RD Heavyweight subwoofers with a modded 12k RMS Soundigital amplifier and he is hitting an incredible 156.4 decibels (at least, the last time he checked).

Here’s another surprising note on this CRX: This is a daily car but not to just any guy. This is the beater of Kevin Ehm, the owner of the infamous cambered Mazda3i sedan. Yes, even his daily is a project car with several different agendas and the passion he has for broad fields of automotive lifestyles truly makes him unique. You don’t even want to know about his stanceboard.

Not many people are willing to spend too much money on their daily’s. It is a daily for a reason, right? However, Kevin sees the beauty in all automobiles, whether they are new or not-so-new. He pays attention to detail and potential, which results in something spectacular in his eyes.

Aired Out

January 2, 2012  |  by Av  |  Car & Misc., Features  |  2 comments

There is just something that is truly unique about seeing one of these new Jetta’s sitting like this. I was convinced this car wasn’t going to look good lowered at all, but once I saw this beauty my opinion changed. We got the chance to ask the owner (Ryan Beard) some questions to learn more about his Jetta”

V2: What are your goals for this car / next mods

RB: I have alot of planning going into the car. I do plan on reupholstering the rear seats to match the Bride seats up front. Notching the frame is in the near future and I will be changing out the wheels until I get the right fitment and look that I’m going for. As performance mods become available for my model I will be venturing into power, but for now, stance is my main priority.

V2: What made you go with the air ride route?

RB: After I owned the car for about 3 months I saw 01′s debut on VWVortex. I immediately knew that’s what I wanted, Air ride not only looks great but is also very practical. The roads in Virginia aren’t very friendly so coilovers and springs were out of the picture to begin with.

V2: Favorite thing about your car

RB: My new CCW LM-20′s are definitely my favorite aspect of the car. The Bride seats and Bagriders suspension are definitely runner ups.

V2: How long do you plan on keeping the car

RB: I’m financing the car, so at least 6 years. I hope to keep this car for a very long time. I have alot in store for it and I plan to finish it.

Mods list:
CCW LM-20 Gold w/ Polished Lip
17×9 et32 (Front) 17×10 et38
Yokohama 215/40s all the way around
Bride Euro II’s Gradation (x2)
Full LED conversion (interior and exterior)
Jetta door sills.

December 26, 2011  |  by Jordan  |  Car & Misc., Features  |  No Comments

Over here in the states, it’s a rare sight to see an R34, and funnily enough even more rare to see one that’s not a GTR. When I got to Australia, my head exploded with all of the R34s driving around. There were stock ones, modded ones, ones with 4 doors, and I even saw an old lady driving one! Over there, R34s are just regular cars, like civics are to us. So much so that there are lots of poorly modded ricer looking ones driving around.

This car is not one of those. John Huynh knows a thing or 2 about modding a car. John was nice enough to pick me up and give me a ride around Melbourne to meet up with Vyet Le to go out for a photoshoot. After some cop trouble and Vyet’s car getting defected, we finally got to shoot, and this is what we came up with!

It may not be godzilla, but it’s still breakin’ necks!
